Tales from the Green Side: Volume 1

What differentiates a “sea story” from a “war story”? Humor, of course. War stories tend to be dark and show the pain of military life. But sea stories find the humor of serving in uniform. Tales from the Green Side is a collection of sea stories told through the eyes of United States Navy FMF (Fleet Marine Force) Hospital Corpsmen serving alongside their Marine counterparts.  It is a hilarious compilation of short stories and illustrations of charters whose language and tone capture the essence of being a “Green Side” Corpsman. Most of all, the stories capture the bond between Marines and their Doc.

Tales from the Green Side will keep you laughing from start to finish.  For the families of those Green Side Warriors, their friends, and those who want to know more, Tales from the Green Side will provide a peak behind the curtains. Gilpen and Creager transport the reader to a cozy bar stool, a pint in hand, surrounded by great company to listen to the hilarious exploits of “Green Side” Corpsmen and their Marines. Don’t miss this first book in the forthcoming Barstool Short Story Anthology Collection published by 8404 Publishing, LLC.

Tales from the Green Side is a humorous yet insightful peak behind the curtain of life as a Navy Corpsman with the Marine Corps. The personalities and their stories are compelling, and the illustrations help the imagination bring the tales to life for the reader without similar experiences.

Great Read. Took me back to when I was a Marine Infantry NCO. I’ve seen Corpsmen do great things on and off the battlefield…… and stupid things, too. Much love and respect to our Corpsmen then and now. Brought back some great memories……Thanks, Johnnie.

Tales from the Green Side truly captures the bond between Marines and their Doc and especially the jackassery of the young men & women who are serving in our Navy and the Marine Corps who call each other brother and sister with pride.

My Brother! For what it’s worth from an old war horse, I have thoroughly enjoyed the sea stories you have provided me! I had forgotten what it was like for you boys at HQBN (hilarious). Coffee cups are sacred and preventive medicine is essential to water bulls! I loved it and can’t wait for what’s to come! Think 2/8!
